The Fitness Products We’re Loving This Month
Spring is in full bloom| and it’s putting a little bounce in our steps. This month| we’re celebrating April by getting outside for our workouts| attending some truly inspiring fitness events| and taking with us just the right gear to keep our spirits high while fueling up with the season’s best produce. From colorful sweat-wicking tops to clean-eating cookbooks| this is what we’re excited about this month.
| Power Pose Bralette by Lucy
I am picky when it comes to support| and don’t want to wear a high-impact sports bra unless I am running and jumping. For yoga and barre classes I have been wearing Lucy’s Power Pose Bralette ($49). The comfortable thin straps are adjustable and gracefully crisscross in the back. The longer design means no binding elastic just under my chest constricting my breath| and the extra coverage means during a hot SoulCycle class I feel comfortable riding in just the bra. The bra also comes with removable inserts that provide some extra shape and coverage.

| N+TC Tour Los Angeles
If last yearu2019s event is any indication| the Los Angeles stop of the N+TC Tour ($50) is going to be amazing. For any of you who have used the N+TC Training Club App or attended one of Nikeu2019s weekly city-specific workouts| itu2019s much like that u2014u00a0except on steroids. Encouraging| inspiring| and challenging| it should not be missed if you are anywhere near LA on April 25.
The event brings together thousands of women| giving them a five-hour fitness experience like no other. At this yearu2019s LA event| Nike master trainers will lead specialized workouts| while local fitness studios u2014u00a0Pound| Flywheel| Prevail Boxing| Groov3 u2014u00a0offer pop-ups of their popular classes; there will also be a special Nike Running Club speed session for the runners out there. Beyond the actual workout| you can expect incredible music and a pretty spectacular location. This year| Nike will be transforming LAu2019s Downtown Arts District into its stage.
| Honey Stinger Caramel Waffle
I’ve been a big fan of Honey Stinger products since training for my first marathon. The energy gels are my favorites during a race; the pocket-friendly gels are made with organic honey| which is easier for me to stomach during a run than more chemical-tasting gels.
When it comes to fueling before a workout| the Honey Stinger waffles are hard to beat. They taste like Dutch syrup waffle cookies and are made with organic ingredients and offer up fast-burning carbs| which make them perfect for grabbing right before I set out for a run or tossing in my gym bag for a pre-workout snack. The newest flavor| caramel waffle ($22 for 16)| is an addictive mix of caramel-infused honey surrounded by two chewy| thin waffles. At 160 calories and 21 grams of carbs| it’s the perfect way for me to energize before an intense workout.

| Freshly Meal Delivery Service
There are a lot of gourmet food delivery services to choose from| but I found one that combines optimal nutrition with high-quality| fresh ingredients to make healthy eating a cinch.
Freshly is a new healthy meal delivery service that focuses on delicious doctor- and chef-developed meals (like Veggie Supreme Scramble| Chicken Rustica With Au Gratin Cauliflower| and Slow-Roasted Pork Fajitas) that are all natural| high in protein| and have healthy fats without any processed carbs or added sugar. The meals average about 450 calories and have about five ounces of lean protein with plenty of veggies. All of the menu options are made from wholesome| locally produced foods that are also free of gluten| GMOs| artificial flavorings| or coloring agents. I received a few meals to sample and they were all as promised u2014 fresh| delish| and filling. All meals come precooked so you just reheat and eat!
Two options are available: Freshly Fit is designed for weight loss and provides 21 meals per week (seven breakfasts| lunches| and dinners) for $230| or you can opt for the superconvenient Freshly Flex program where you can choose a six-meal| nine-meal| or 12-meal option| starting at $70 per week. This is a commitment-free subscription-based service that allows you the option to upgrade| downgrade| or pause your subscription as needed. Freshly is currently delivering to doorsteps throughout most of the western US.

| Salomon Capris
Goodbye warm Winter running tights and hello capris! These Salomon Elevate 3/4 Tights ($100) are made of comfy| lightweight| silky-smooth| quick-drying fabric. The thick waistband fits snugly without feeling constrictive and there’s a small zippered pocket in the back for my house key| but my absolute favorite feature is the mesh panels behind the knees that keep me cool. I have these in the deep purple| and I love the subtle wavy pattern that makes them unique| but not too wild to match with most of my solid-colored tops.

| The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen
I am an omnivore looking to eat lower on the food chain| for both health and environmental reasons but have been a little lost in preparing meals my meat-loving family will love. The The Complete Vegetarian Cookbook ($30) by America’s Test Kitchen has filled my recipe void for cooking filling| savory| satisfying meat-free meals. The wide variety of recipes I have made from this cookbook has been delicious; my family especially loves the farro casserole with broccoli rabe| and dinner guests gobbled up a kale salad with sweet potatoes and pomegranate vinaigrette.
The book lives up to its title and feels quite complete with 700 recipes; 250 are vegan and 500 are gluten-free. But the cookbook is a wonderful resource beyond the easy-to-follow recipes; it’s an educational resource with primers on cooking whole grains and asian noodles| DIY tofu| and how-tos on grilling veggies and preparing celery root. And true to ATK| the cookbook is just fun to read!
| Pure Greens Detoxifier
Itu2019s hard to find greens powder that doesnu2019t make me want to gag from the taste or feel like I have a mouth full of grass. But I found one that actually tastes good and is still pure and healthy! FYCNYC adds just a small dose of cinnamon to make its Pure Greens Detoxifier ($45) taste a little like apple pie.
Every morning I wake up with a scoop of this powder in water or coconut water. For people who donu2019t eat vegetables with breakfast| this is an amazing solution to get it in early and offer your body an extra dose of vitamins and nutrients first thing in the morning.

| The Performance Paleo Cookbook
When I cook at home| I do my best to keep things clean| Paleo| and packed with quality nutrition. I’m always on the hunt for a new cookbook to suit my needs| and garlic shrimp and cauliflower grits and salt and vinegar coconut chips| which were both delicious. I can’t wait to try more!

| Eco Vessel Insulated Water Bottle
Love the ease of drinking from a small spout| but also love how easy it is to clean a wide-mouth bottle? So do I! That’s why I love my new Eco Vessel Insulated Water Bottle ($27 for 20-ounce size). Made of stainless steel| it’s BPA-free and leakproof| it can be used for hot or cold drinks| and the little loop at the top also serves as a handy carrying strap. As a bonus| it’s slim enough to fit in my car cup holder| but of course| my favorite feature is the dual spout. Twist open the top for small sips| or twist open the bottom for big gulps.
| Adidas Climacool Aeroknit Tee
I’m more of a racerback tank kind of girl no matter what the workout| but lately this Adidas Climacool Aeroknit Tee ($32) has been in constant rotation in my workout wardrobe. I love that its longer length means stay-put coverage (especially on my long torso) and that the sweat-wicking material keeps me pretty dry no matter how intense my Barry’s Bootcamp class is. Plus| the pastel color is perfect for sunny Spring runs (as are the other pretty colors this shirt is available in)| so I’ll be sporting this tee throughout the season.
| Hamilton Beach Single-Serve Blender
Ever since I’ve gotten into a regular smoothie routine| my spinach smoothie or one of these other healthy smoothie recipes.
| Kick Your Butt Short
I love these shorts because of their versatility. So often Iu2019ll have a road race where my shorts are getting soaked with water and sweat| but these Kick Your Butt Shorts ($52) from Graced by Grit dry so quickly. Iu2019m also a beach girl so having a pair of shorts that work on the land or in the water is a dream come true. Plus| the pockets are great for holding my key| money| and lip balm| wherever I am!
These are shorts for athletes who want the ultimate pair of functional shorts. Their quick-drying fabric| supportive compression waistband| two hidden media pockets| and a flattering cut makes these shorts the final stop in sport utility. Take them on a run| out on the water for SUP| or into a CrossFit box.
| The Boston Marathon
Now in its 119th year| the Boston Marathon (April 20) has become so much more than a race. As anyone who has been in Boston during the marathon can tell you| it’s incredible to see how the city comes together to host this inspiring event. Two years after the tragic Boston Marathon bombings| the sense of #BostonStrong permeates through every city street| building| and person; it’s hard not to become emotional when there.
Even if you can’t make it to Boston to participate as a runner or spectator| you can still watch the awesome feat of athleticism from your own home. Be forewarned: after watching| it’s likely you’ll be inspired to start training for a marathon of your own.
