#LoveYourBody Day 1: Conquer the Mirror

If you’ve ever had the experience of staring into the mirror with a laser focus wishing your arms| belly| legs| backside| or (insert your trouble zone here) looked different| it’s time to make a small shift in your perspective that brings big long-term benefits. Whenever you realize that you are picking on one part (or a few parts) of your body| step back and away from the mirror.

Close your eyes| take a few deep breaths| and look back at the mirror with the intention to see the whole you. Stop looking at your body like you’re a machine with discardable parts that could be so easily broken down| and start embracing all that it does to help you connect| move| and experience every day. When you think about all the amazing things your body is capable of| it’s much harder to rip yourself apart.

If this exercise feels difficult| imagine how your loved ones see you. Do your best to look at yourself in the mirror with their kind eyes| and let go of your old| tired stories filled with self-judgment; they’re just not helping anyone.
