Established in 1969 and inspired by European sophistication, Ginia has made a name for itself as the label of choice when seeking silk basics and nightwear. Recently, I had the opportunity to experience wearing select pieces from Ginia’s Basics collection, and am happy to report that they all ring true to Ginia’s promise of providing luxurious quality and elegant craftsmanship.

Out of all the pieces I tried on, one of my favorites is the ‘Silk V Neck Chemise’, which features adjustable straps and a flared skirt. Crafted from pure bias cut silk, this chemise is simple and timeless—yet extremely flattering. I was particularly impressed by the detailed binding present on all of Ginia’s products; not a single stitch is out of place, and with proper care, their pieces will likely last a lifetime.

Another lovely piece from Ginia’s Basics collection is the ‘Silk V Neck Cami’, which is very similar in design to the chemise mentioned above. This is a versatile piece that could easily be worn both as outerwear underneath a blouse and (when matched with silk pajamas) as nightwear. It’s simple, sophisticated, and overall a very elegant piece worth incorporating into your wardrobe.

Ginia’s attention to detail is particularly well showcased by the camisole and knickers set shown below. Cut from pure silk, the set is beautifully constructed and features delicate pintuck detailing with scalloped lace trimmings. Like all of Ginia’s products, this set is delightfully lightweight and breathable, making it perfect for warm summer nights.

Last but not least is the ‘Silk Short Wrap Gown with Lace Trim’. Although I was disappointed that this gorgeous robe didn’t include pockets, it’s still a remarkably well-made piece and is extremely comfortable to wear. To me, this piece is a great wardrobe staple and adds a nice romantic touch to one’s lingerie collection.

I would like to include a word of caution regarding purchasing any of these pieces—since Ginia is based in Australia, their size chart is different from the standard U.S. size chart, meaning that Ginia’s size 8 (which is the smallest size they carry) is actually a U.S. size 2. If you normally wear garments smaller than a U.S. size 2, you will likely find that most of Ginia’s pieces are too large to fit properly. An email from Ginia’s marketing team, however, stated that they may consider including a U.S. size 0 in key shapes in the future.

Overall, I was highly impressed by all of the pieces I had the opportunity to wear. Although each piece is feminine and delicate, they’re all designed to be ‘heirloom’ pieces that will last for ages with proper care—the true embodiment of luxury.

When it comes to lingerie, do you prefer satin or a different type of fabric (such as polyester or a cotton blend)? What do you think of Ginia? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below!
