11 Ways Ronda Rousey Completely Knocked Out 2015

11 Ways Ronda Rousey Completely Knocked Out 2015

Despite her recent devastating defeat against Holly Holm that tainted her 12-0 streak| UFC powerhouse Ronda Rousey still had an incredible year worth recognizing. Not only did she add a few noteworthy titles and skills under her championship belts| but she showed the world exactly why those recognitions are hers. Aside from her obvious amazing athletic prowess| what’s most intriguing about Ronda is her ability to penetrate the mainstream u2014 a sad rarity amongst female athletes. Both men and women alike u2014 even those who may not even follow the UFC u2014 have become captivated by not only the athlete| but the story behind her.

“”She shares her hardships| she shares her difficulties. She shares in a way that truly makes her human| in a way that makes you like the person underneath the fighter|”” said Senior Vice President and founder of espnW Laura Gentile. “”I think her number one gift is that she’s comfortable with who she is u2014 she’s very comfortable with speaking her mind. It might be hard to get behind a fighter| but it’s certainly not hard to root for Ronda.””

And while some may consider her cocky| with Ronda’s string of accomplishments| who’s to say a little boost of confidence isn’t well-deserved? There’s a reason she became a household name| and even with a loss| her talent and reach has not been diminished.

“”She’s earned her right as a world-class athlete . . . she’s in a very tough sport| and everybody’s gunning for her|”” Laura said. “”She’s done a wonderful job of transcending her specific sport| which first of all wasn’t even open to women and now she’s the biggest headliner in the whole sport.””

Recently nominated as “”Breakthrough UFC Star”” on espnW’s 2015 IMPACT25 list| Ronda has been recognized as one of the most influential forces in women’s sports alongside Serena Williams| Carli Lloyd| and Misty Copeland. Clearly| her fight against Holly hasn’t taken away from her achievements. Here’s 11 more reasons that prove why 2015 was “”Rowdy”” Ronda’s year.

| She replied to Bethe Correia’s sh*t-talking with a 34-second KO.

Brazilian MMA fighter Bethe Correia crossed the line when making a suicide joke (in reference to Ronda’s father| who took his own life when she was 8) but Ronda had the ultimate comeback in the ring. It only took Ronda 34 seconds to knock her opponent out.

| She never let body-shamers get her down.

In response to all the haters who were vocal about Ronda’s body type| she shut them down with this amazing quote: “”Just because my body was developed for a purpose other than f*cking millionaires doesn’t mean it’s masculine. I think it’s femininely badass as f*ck| because there’s not a single muscle on my body that isn’t for a purpose. Because I’m not a do-nothing b*tch.””

| She made history as Men’s Fitness’s cover girl.

Men’s Fitness Australia featured the Olympic medalist on the cover of their November issue u2014 the first time a woman has ever graced the front. “”When women say that going on publications directed at men is somehow demeaning| I don’t think that’s true. I think that’s one really effective way to change the societal standard women are held to|”” Ronda said.

| She broke her own UFC Championship record.

When competing against Cat Zingano for the UFC Womenu2019s Bantamweight Championship back in February| Ronda ended the fight in a mere 14 seconds. Not only did Ronda beat her impressive 16-second KO from her previous match against Alexis Davis| but she also set a UFC record.

| She ranked #1 on Sports Illustrated’s pound-for-pound list.

Sports Illustrated‘s pound-for-pound rankings are based on a fighter’s track record u2014 male or female u2014 which placed Ronda at the very top of the list in May. Although her recent loss took her off the list completely| it’s quite an accomplishment to have been recognized as the most dominant MMA fighter.

| She won the public over with her charm.

Ronda’s abilities as a fighter have been undeniable but it wasn’t until this year that the world really got to know her outside the ring. Her multiple appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon revealed Ronda’s playful and endearing side| making her America’s (bad*ss) sweetheart.

| She became an author.

Ronda cowrote and released her first book| My Fight/Your Fight| which details the pains and wins of her life both in and out of the octagon.

| She made the cover of Sports Illustrated as “”the world’s most dominant athlete.””

In addition to being featured on the cover of Self’s November issue| Sports Illustrated honored the 28-year-old’s achievements by deeming her “”the world’s most dominant athlete.”” Not a bad title to add to one’s ru00e9sumu00e9.

| She became an actress.

This past year| Ronda added actress to her impressive list of accomplishments with roles in Furious 7 and the Entourage movie.

| She earned the “”Best Fighter”” ESPY award.

Ronda outshined her male UFC colleagues by taking home one of the most prestigious recognitions of the ESPY awards: Best Fighter. The previous year| she lost to Floyd Mayweather| who claimed to “”have no idea who she is.”” Upon recieving the award| Ronda commented| “”I’d like to see you pretend to not know who I am now.””

| She became an inspiration to women everywhere.

In line with her anti-“”do-nothing b*tch”” attitude| she confirmed that her success is attributed to none other than hard work. u201cWe seem to be in this conflicting era for women| where women are doing so amazingly and taking over the athletic world| but weu2019re also in a time where . . . How can I really put it? That women without any skills that freeload are being glorified. Thatu2019s something I was raised not to be. That youu2019re supposed to contribute to the world| not consume from it|”” she told The New York Times.

In the same interview| she mentioned not minding being the spokesperson for women of her frame: u201cIf I can represent that body type of women that isnu2019t represented so much in media| then Iu2019d be happy to do that|u201d she said.

Kim Kardashian Has Already Lost 17 Pounds, and Her Plan Is 53 More to Go

During a recent live stream session on her app, Kim Kardashian spoke about her postpregnancy health and fitness goals, in addition to revealing that she has already lost 17 pounds since giving birth to her son, Saint, on Dec. 5. It’s good to remember that most women drop 18 to 25 pounds during the first month after giving birth (baby, placenta, fluid, breastfeeding, etc.), so Kim is pretty on track with what happens to the body naturally after giving birth.

While live streaming, the post-baby-body whisperer invited Caitlyn Jenner over for Christmas decorating and some deep-dish pizza ¡ª though she was unable to partake in the latter ¡ª at which point Kim told Caitlyn she gained about 60 pounds during her pregnancy and weighed 190 pounds at the end of her third trimester. “I almost died,” she remarked.

Now Kim is hoping to reach her goal weight of 120 pounds through breastfeeding, a no-nonsense diet and fitness regimen, and . . . placenta pills?

In a blog post, Kim explained she starting taking the pills made with her own placenta (shown below) to combat postpartum depression: “I heard so many stories when I was pregnant with North of moms who never ate their placenta with their first baby and then had postpartum depression, but then when they took the pills with their second baby, they did not suffer from depression!” She added, “So I thought, why not try it? What do I have to lose?”

Lastly, Kim said that she plans on lying low and keeping to herself as she embarks on her health and fitness journey. Just kidding. She plans on having a big post-baby-body “reveal” once she’s ready ¡ª in a break-the-Internet way, one can only assume.

See Adele’s Amazing Weight-Loss Transformation

As if we needed another reason to worship Our Lady of Breakup Songs, Adele has announced a massive North American tour ¡ª her first in five years ¡ª that will take place from July to November of next year. In preparation for her 25 tour, the singer has been overhauling her diet and implementing a fitness routine . . . and it seriously shows.

In her interview with Rolling Stone, Adele spoke about how she lost over 21 pounds, while also maintaining her body-confident outlook. The article read:

Adele is trying to build stamina for her possible return to the road, so she’s cutting back on sugar, though not carbs altogether (“I’d never deprive myself like that!”), and hitting the gym, “to get in shape for myself, but not to be a size zero or anything like that.” Her regimen? “I mainly moan,” she says. Small cackle. “I’m not, like, skipping to the fucking gym. I don’t enjoy it. I do like doing weights. I don’t like looking in the mirror. Blood vessels burst on my face really easily, so I’m so conscious when I’m lifting weights not to let them burst in my face. And if I don’t tour, you’ll catch me back down at the Chinese!”

Her recent health and fitness journey can be credited to her young son, Angelo, who also motivated her to quit smoking. She said, “I absolutely loved it, but it’s not that f*cking cool when I’m dying from a smoking-related illness and my kid is, like, devastated.”

We commend Adele on her impressive transformation and look forward to possibly seeing her absolutely kill it in person ¡ª that is, if tickets don’t sell out immediately.

This year has been kind to Serena Williams. She was featured in the 2016 Pirelli calendar, became a guest editor at Wired, proved she was an actual superhero, and generally slayed on and off the court. So when Sports Illustrated named her as its sportsperson of the year, we can’t say that we were surprised, though certainly pleased with the decision.

“A cough and cold had her vomiting before and, for the first time, during a match: the Australian Open final, in January, which she won anyway. Bone bruises in both knees, the residue of 20 years of pounding, flared during the spring hardcourt swing and never subsided. Her focus frayed, her footwork suffering, she arrived at the French Open nursing a right elbow strain that would plague her unparalleled serve the rest of the year . . . But she refused to buckle.”

Williams has also shown tremendous personal growth. Though known for her tough demeanor, she admitted to loosening up a little this year. A Peek Inside Taylor Swift’s Healthy Lifestyle

Taylor Swift has a lot to celebrate this year, which is sure to make her birthday (Dec. 13) that much more special. The singer snagged best female video at the MTV Video Music Awards, had her girl squad rally behind her on stage, and performed in sold-out shows during her 1989 album tour. The singer even made peace with Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, who performed on stage with Taylor during the VMAs in matching red outfits. And true to form, Taylor still stands by her endless supply of crop tops, showing off her toned stomach. With everything she’s juggling, here’s how Taylor has learned at a young age to keep her life healthy and balanced.

She maintains a regular exercise routine: Taylor may be young with good genes on her side, but she still recognizes the health benefits that come from having an exercise routine. To keep her energy levels up, Taylor makes a point to run regularly: “For me, working out is not so I can get skinny. It’s so that I’m not panting on stage.” She stays consistent with other types of workouts, too. In recent months, we’ve spotted Taylor going to and from the gym on a regular basis ¡ª and she always looks amazing when she exits. During an interview with Seth Meyers, she recently joked about her postgym appearance: “Everyone looks like that when they leave the gym!” She lets go of negativity: Given how confessional her songs are, it probably comes as no surprise that Taylor keeps a journal. Instead of bottling up negative emotions, the songstress lets them out through written word. Keeping a journal is a great way to increase self-awareness by helping to get rid of the clutter in your head and make positive steps toward change. She eats healthy (with some room to cheat): Being on tour can take its toll on the body, so Taylor keeps her energy levels high through healthy eating. During the week, it’s all about salad, yogurt, and healthy sandwiches, but once the weekend comes, she gives herself room to indulge. Baked goods, burgers, and lattes top her list of cheat foods.Image Source: Getty
