Curvy Couture Sport Launches

Curvy Couture Sport Bra in Black

Comfort, style and support come together in the new line of plus-sized sports bras from Curvy Couture.

“We’re really trying to end the whole stigma of plus-sized women having to wear two sports bras to the gym,” says Summer Rose, director of digital marketing and ecommerce. “That can end with these bras. We’re excited and the feedback so far has been positive.”

Curvy Couture Sport: Ultimate, Zip and Confident Fit

Curvy Couture Sports Bra Collection
The collection includes three bras. The Ultimate Fit Underwire Sports bra and the Zip Fit Underwire Sports bra are available this month. The Confident Fit Wire Free Sports bra will be released in July. Each is made from a performance, moisture-wicking fabric and breathable mesh panels.

The Ultimate Fit Underwire sports bra is meant for super high impact activity and features cross-back straps and molded cups with zones compression. It comes in black and heather grey. “Our new breathable stretch mesh helps give her more comfort,” says Rose. “This allows for the bra to lay softly and makes her experience more comfortable.”

The Zip Fit bra is a medium impact sports bra perfect for activities such as hiking and cycling. It comes in dusty blue and black.

“Inside the bra you have two hooks that latch before you zip it up,” says Rose. “This helps to make sure everything is in place and that it goes on more smoothly. She adds that the bra goes on like a vest, rather than having to be pulled over the head and shoulders. “Having it be front closure was a solution we haven’t seen in plus sizes,” she says. “The straps are adjustable in the front, so you don’t have to reach around back to adjust.”

“Rather than buying one thing that serves one purpose, women are looking for items that have multiple purposes and opportunities.” – Willy Mrasek, Felina.

As millennial women gravitate more towards capsule wardrobes, manufacturers must find more ways to make its collections fit in. Felina’s Creative Director, Willy Mrasek says that multifunctionality is the key.

“Multi-purpose wardrobe solutions, we’re seeing a lot of that theme in ready-to-wear,” he says. “Rather than buying one thing that serves one purpose, women are looking for items that have multiple purposes and opportunities.”

This spring, Mrasek says Felina’s line fits the bill. From bodysuits to tanks, the collection is chock-full of styles that can be worn anywhere. He notes long sleeve and three-quarter length sleeve styles that can be layered from day to night and are perfect for lounging as must-haves for this target customer.

“Our bodysuits have been phenomenal at retail and we’re going in depth this spring,” Mrasek.

“The Body Zone group features two new silhouettes that are all great innerwear as outerwear options.” Mrasek takes inspiration from the 80s style bodysuit, and updates it with more modern design and finishes, like the t-back strap in style 900284 and the wide crisscross straps in style 900229. “These give the customer options—is this a layering piece, or a sleep piece or is this an exercise piece?”

Felina’s foray into athleisure

The Jessica group is also expected to be a hit at retail this spring. “It’s our foray into athleisure,” Mrasek says. The group features modal fabrications with lace details and trims. Style 900291, a modal tank with a galloon lace hem, is perfect to layer under sweaters or worn on its own. Capri modal leggings, Style 900292, also feature a lace trim, which Mrasek says gives the athleisure look a more glamorous feel. A corset romper, Style 900294, features a flirty tap pant and a strappy back detail.

Quality is always a huge priority for the brand and this season Mrasek says the collection will feature stronger fabrications. “We’re rising to the challenge of our retailers to continue to push the border in silhouettes and fabrication,” he says.

The Danielle group features a rayon linen slub jersey fabric that gives basic t-shirts and tanks an upgrade. The group also includes a tank dress, pant and short that feature mesh cutout details. Lucy is a group of sweatshirts and a lounge pant in luxurious cotton and the Victoria group includes a long sleeve top and zip up hoodie with spandex brushed jersey.

Intimate Indulgences: HookedUp Shapewear and Miel Sisters Review

Intimate Indulgences: HookedUp Shapewear and Miel Sisters

by Melissa Cherniss

Let’s go ahead and admit the holidays are a stressful time of year. There is a lot of pressure to purchase gifts, attend parties, and eat food, lots of food. If you’re like me, you like to indulge in everything the holidays have to offer (especially the food part).

Sometimes it can be a struggle to be present in a conversation, enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and track the total consumption of eggnog. It’s just a little too much, if you ask me. As a woman, I tend to feel the additional pressure of fitting into dresses bought for special occasions, like parties, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

Though I use shapewear throughout the year, I’ve been known to rely heavily on its magic during the holiday season. Not only does shapewear contour the body, but it also helps clothing fit better resulting in a more polished look. And if you look good, you feel good!

wearing HookedUp Shapewear

Because HookedUp Shapewear hooks to the bra you’ll be able to dance like a wild woman and not have to constantly tug it up like with other shapers.

Last night, I attended a black-tie holiday event and was expected to wear a gown. Due to my indulgences during the holiday season, and ultimately gaining a few extra pounds, I knew that shapewear would be an excellent solution for me to keep my confidence level at its highest.

I decided to try out HookedUp Shapewear for the first time. This shapewear design contains a brief control top that can “hook up” to any bra, in just a few simple steps. If there is any confusion whatsoever, their website provides high a detailed instructional video, which I personally found helpful.

HookedUp Shapewear

Being a size six, possibly eight during this time of year, I still went with a size medium. Though it felt snug, it was not uncomfortable by any means. After putting on the brief, it gave the illusion of a smooth tummy. The elastic around the leg holes are comfortable and did not rise (no wedgies or visible lines y’all). There are also hooks placed on the gusset to allow a girl to use the bathroom without having to fully remove her outfit. Overall this product allowed me to receive the flat tummy and zip into my gown.

Sweet Resolutions

Miel Sisters

Miel garments have a plant-based antibacterial protection called Guardin™ built right into all their styles. Thanks to Guardin™, you can go from a yoga class to Sunday brunch without changing and you’ll still feel dry and clean.

When the holidays are all said and done, I get back into my daily routine of eating healthy and working out. Some of my personal goals for the New Year are to increase my upper body strength and meditate every morning. What better way to combine the two than with yoga? Though yoga is a low-intensity workout, it still requires most women to use a sports bra to minimize the bouncing movement of their boobs.

The Miel Sisters have created a cute and comfortable bra perfectly suitable for low-intensity sports. And who doesn’t like going to yoga class in a cute bra? Their Nana bra happens to be one of my new favorites.

Miel Sisters Racer Back backview

Here is why: as you wash a sports bra, the quality of the elasticity will decline over time. As this occurs, the bra will stretch and become less supportive. But the hook and eye feature of the Nana bra allows the wearer to compensate for the stretching of the material over time. If you don’t like the hook and eye concept, they have a Racer Back style that is common among sports bras. The shoulder straps of this bra are adjustable, resulting in the perfect fit for all body types.

Miel Sisters Nana Bra in Moroccan-Sand for SS18

And did I mention their panties? Typically, I stay away from a brief bottom in fear of the product riding up and creating the worst wedgie known to woman. But I have to admit these Viki briefs are giving me life. The high cut leg hole is not only flattering to the body but also stops the panties from rising. The panties would work best with loosely fitted athletic pants. As for the Luna thong option, I can’t even tell I am wearing anything.

Both the panties and bra options come in an abundance of colors and a fun print too.

Sometimes the thought of cute lingerie gets lost in translation. It’s often forgotten even though it’s the first thing we put on when getting dressed and the last thing we take off. So why not wear something that makes you feel confident and look your absolute best?

Empreinte Enters the Activewear Market with IN-PULSE

Empreinte Enters the Activewear Market with IN-PULSE

“We transferred our expertise into the activewear world with new fabrics, functionality and accessories resulting in a range that offers exceptional performance” —Josie-Anne Le Diouron

From hitting the gym after work to a weekend powerwalk in the park with friends, keeping fit and doing sport has become a routine part of our daily lives. And naturally, we want to look good doing it. We want sportswear that is both chic and functional and will hold up well to the rigors of regular exercise.

French lingerie brand Empreinte has been fine-tuning its fit and support since 1946 – a timeline that includes 12 years of expertise in seamless lingerie – and now it’s taking that savoir-faire and channeling it into the brand’s first-ever activewear line, IN-PULSE.

“Empreinte has always been focused on women’s well-being through its lingerie that provides both a unique fit and a style infused with French elegance,” says Empreinte North America’s Marketing Coordinator Josie-Anne Le Diouron, “Our know-how combined with our desire to offer women the freedom to move as they want in their everyday life naturally led us to explore the activewear segment, a segment that is no longer only reserved for sportspersons.”

INITIALE, the debut IN-PULSE range, comprises a seamless sports bra, a shorty, and matching leggings for a perfectly-coordinated look. The three pieces are available in a choice of graphite grey or light and rosy pink. Incorporated into the designs are metallic panels and shimmering stripes, for a contemporary ‘sports chic’ vibe.

IN-PULSE is the culmination of three years of development, research, and rigorous testing. “We transferred our expertise into the activewear world with new fabrics, functionality, and accessories resulting in a range that offers exceptional performance,” says Josie-Anne.

The INITIALE sports bra is underwired, but you wouldn’t know it from how it feels. “We made the choice to have wires on our sports bra as in a regular bra,” she adds, “since they give extra support and help with creating a beautiful separation of the breast. However, these wires are integrated into the structure of the bra so that they cannot be felt on the body during activities.”

Support with Shape

The bra, although designed to be lightweight, significantly reduces bounce even for fuller busts, and even for high-intensity sports. Many sports bras have racerback or crossover straps for added support, and the INITIALE includes that option. It has discreet clasp fastenings where the cups join to the straps, allowing you to easily convert them to a crossover style without taking the bra off.

The wiring keeps the breasts separated and lifted, rather than flattening them as some cheaper, compression-based sports bras do. Available in C-H cup sizes, the INITIALE sports bra will keep you feeling both confident and comfortable, whether you’re darting across a tennis court or powering through a kick-boxing class.

Function and Fashion

Empreinte Enters the Activewear Market with IN-PULSE

The range also uses fabrics that are soft to the touch, with the cups made from a spacer fabric for breathability and rapid drying. The shorty has flat seams and a chic-but-comfy wide elastic waistband. While the leggings use durable EMANA fabric that boosts comfort and provides SPF 50+ UV protection for your outdoor workouts.

Overall, INITIALE is a fantastic entrance into the activewear market from Empreinte – it’s functional, which is the most important thing in fitness wear of course, but clearly an equal amount of thought has been put into making it attractive. The leggings especially are something you can put on for the gym and then keep wearing as stylish athleisurewear afterward.

IN-PULSE launches in stores in December 2019, with RRPs of $188 for the bra (available in 32-42C, 28-42 D-F, 30-40G, and 30-36H), $83 for the shorty (available in XXS-XXL), and $166 for the leggings (available in XS-L).
