Nina Parker Curvy Couture Collaboration

Nina Parker wearing Curvy Coutour's Tulip Lace Push-Up Bra

Nina Parker wants women to start a new bra relationship with Curvy Couture. The actress is teaming up with the full bust specialist for a month-long campaign designed to inform and inspire her fans on the importance of proper bra fit.

“I have had a really hard time my whole life finding bras that fit my nice voluptuous boobs properly…but with Curvy Couture I’ve really found bras that make me feel like I’m not even wearing a bra. And I have to hook my girls up!” explained Nina in a recent video announcing the collaboration.

Each week, the campaign features weekly doses of bra inspiration, real talk and giveaways. The hook up Nina mentioned in her video? That’s a 20% off discount code (NINA20) customers can use on the Curvy Couture site throughout the month.

“We’re encouraging everyone on social media to be part of our journey with Curvy Couture. Start your new bra relationship with Nina Parker & Curvy Couture!” added the brand’s Summer Rose. “Finding the perfect fit will change your life. Tune into every Friday for a new giveaway and be sure to use the hashtag #CurvyInspired to enter.”

Nina and Curvy Couture fans may be wondering how this collaboration got off the ground. Summer explained, that “Surprisingly, the relationship started in a very organic way. Nina reached out to us after seeing one of her girlfriends wearing a Curvy Couture Strapless Bra. After struggling with a lifetime of bra dysfunction she was stunned to see a strapless bra actually supporting a curvy girl. We sent her bras to try and the rest was history!”

Nina and Curvy Couture’s #curvyinspired message is already reaching the masses — Nina was spotted live on USA Today and featured in Modern Wellness Guide talking about the importance of boosting confidence.

The Muse Lingerie

At CURVENEWYORK this summer, we met with designers who said starting their businesses enriched their lives.

Silent Arrow founder Kelly Barrett, for example, said working on her brand became a journey in self-(re)discovery.

“Creating [Silent Arrow] was a massive personal renaissance for me. I slowly started to remember who I was,” said Kelly at the show.

TuTu lingerie rack

TuTu cofounder Nofar Duchovny echoed these sentiments saying the moment she started designing her collection, she felt a sense of love and nostalgia. “It made me feel the same again.” she said.

Launching TuTu also created the opportunity for Nofar’s sister, Shiran, to work alongside her handling the business side of the brand.

“It’s something we both love.” said Shiran.

Rya Collection

Real Lingerie Collection by Oh La La Cheri

Real Lingerie Lucette Teddy

“We want to convey a sense of femininity, sensuality and soothing comfort.” – Nicolas Attard, Real Lingerie.

Modern women are done doubting themselves and their looks. Armed with self-esteem and renewed confidence they are the driving force behind the Body Positive Movement, a movement that focuses on accepting all body types, sizes and colors.

This movement sparked the idea for Oh La La Cheri’s new line of intimate apparel, Real Lingerie. Real Lingerie is a fashion-driven collection of lingerie that covers a modern woman’s lingerie needs throughout every moment of the day.

Real Lingerie Lucette Teddy back view

The name Real Lingerie came from founder and designer, Nicolas Attard, wanting to make a line for women in all shapes and sizes that fit their everyday lifestyles. “The line carries everything from size small to 4X in the same silhouette,” he says. “We wanted to make this line comfortable and for everyday use.”

Real Lingerie: sizes up to 4X

Real Lingerie Marian Teddy

“Today’s market demands beauty in all areas of their life,” reads the brand’s look book. “Real Lingerie serves beauty with the comfort and fit needed for real women in a real world.”

The Real Lingerie line features sizes up to 4X. Additionally the original Oh La La Cheri collection has updated its fit to be more wide-ranging.

Real Lingerie Yvette Babydoll

“The evolution of the market was a great source of inspiration,” says Attard. “The ‘It Girls’ of the world are wearing lingerie as outerwear and the movement towards body positivity was also a big source of inspiration. We strongly believe in the message that the body positivity movement has begun.”

Real Lingerie – Lace, Solid Colors and a splash of Fashion.

Attard describes the line as comfortable, on-trend, sensual, and versatile. He says just about every piece in the collection can be worn as outerwear, further adding to the flexibility of the brand’s function and style. “The bodysuits can be worn with your favorite jeans or skirt,” he says. “Our bralettes are the perfect layering piece that can be worn under a shirt, jacket or low cut dress.”

Real Lingerie Suzette Set

He references vertical pieces, like the Suzette Bodysuit, a soft textured lace teddy with cap sleeves. It features removable cups making it easy to be worn to bed or with a pair of jeans for a night out.

The Lucette Bodysuit is another versatile style. The edgy lace teddy features a plunge neckline and dramatic back, as well as removable cups.

On Trend Details

Real Lingerie Odette Bralette and Panty

“Today’s market demands beauty in all areas of their life.”

The Odette Bodysuit, a halter-style lace teddy, has a detachable elastic harness.

The color palette for the line includes soft, feminine shades of nude and Mesa Rose; jewel tones like a deep blue Astral Aura, Everglade green and Rhubarb; and traditional red and black. “We want to convey a sense of femininity, sensuality and soothing comfort,” says Attard about the colors that were selected for the debut collection.

Real Lingerie Amalie Crushed Velvet Teddy

The on-trend details of the line have also been highly praised by its modern customers. For example, the Amalie bodysuit uses a crushed velvet fabric in black and Astral Aura. “It is an on-trend fabric with great texture while still providing the right kind of coverage,” says Attard.

Real Lingerie Viviane

Additionally, the harness detailing on the Odette Bodysuit and bralette, and the deep V-plunge neckline with strap detail featured on the Vivian bodysuit and babydoll is inspired by ready-to-wear styles spotted on the runways. “The response has been outrageously positive,” he adds.

The collection was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction at April’s Curvexpo. “The biggest surprise was the initial reaction,” Attard says. “We didn’t meet a store that didn’t love the collection. The reaction on the styling was especially positive. This line does not compete with our other lines and it truly stands out on its own. We feel that this is a great complement to our company.”

Mad Mac Holiday Merchandising Tips

It’s not too late to improve on some of your Holiday displays! The Mad Mac Lingerie team give us some actionable tips you could put to use right away with their collections!

It’s all about color.

Mad and Mac photo by Jan Klier
To make your thongs stand out arrange them in color order like Ritzman did at the most recent CURVE. “It drew in so many people because people are visual,” says Harris.

Mix and Match.

Shout out to @lorettasintimates for sharing this cute display of panties in the shape of a Christmas tree!! We L❤️VE this store!! #stockingstuffers #thongs #madeindallas #softestlace #animalprintliners #usa #shoplocal

A post shared by Mad Mac (@madmaclingerie) on

“Mad Mac Lingerie works as a collection,” says Harris. “If you have a four-way rack put it together.” She suggests creating color stories but grouping neutrals, pastels or bright shades. “All of our items work beautifully together when presented as a collection and not just a single item.”

Showcase Crossover Items.

Pair a cute Love +Grace spring dress with a Mad Mac bralette! So cute and both are made in the USA!! #softestfabricever #softestlaceyoulleverwear #springisjustaroundthecorner #buylocal

A post shared by Mad Mac (@madmaclingerie) on

All of Mad Mac’s apparel has a versatile quality that makes it perfect for day to nightwear. Merchandise items with ready-to-wear staples like jeans and dresses to show customers how they can be worn both ways. “We’re from the Midwest,” she says. “People look for the value in everything they buy or do. Twenty dollars is a lot for panties so they have got to have multiple uses.”

Highlight Care Instructions.

Because the lace is specially treated it can’t go in the dryer, says Harris. All orders include an 8 ½ X 11 card with care instructions that can be displayed with the product. Be sure to have your staff members point this out to customers as they shop.

Mad Mac’s Secret Ingredient: Mirco-brushed Lace

Mad and Mac Lingerie Collection

“I want people to experience the touch, experience the feel and experience the fit of Mad Mac Lingerie.” – Rita Harris.

Mad Mac Founder Rita Harris wants you to take the lace challenge. She’s confident the micro-brushed lace that she developed for the collection will out shine that of the competition.

The lace, which is exclusive to the company, is made in America using a machine that lightly brushes the underside of the fabric. This process makes the lace soft and not scratchy, a common complaint about others on the market, says Co-designer and Head of Production Sue Ritzman. “Many of our customers say it’s like they’re wearing nothing at all,” she adds.

Harris boasts a strong background in the intimate apparel industry, which includes working with Neiman Marcus, first as a buyer and then in development. She says this has helped her create a brand that stands alone in the market. “You have to set yourself apart,” she says. “Everyone is doing a lace thong, they are a staple in everyone’s line. I looked to see how we can make it better.”

With that, Harris set to work creating a superior thong. She turned to the people closest to her, her daughters, for their input. “One of my daughters hated anything scratchy,” she says. “The micro-brushing makes it super soft on the inside.”

Developing this unique treatment for the lace was an investment for Harris. She worked directly with a lace manufacturer to perfect the brushing technique. He offered to pay for half of the costs of new machinery if she covered the rest of the bill. “I felt it could set us apart,” she adds.

Mad Mac Lingerie

Harris says her efforts are paying off as customers really can tell the difference, and are responding well to the feel of their lace. Harris calls this the Mad Mac Experience, something she likens to a blind taste test of popular soda or spaghetti sauce brands you commonly see take place in television commercials.

Often in meetings with buyers, Harris will have clients feel two lace thongs and identify which one is the softest. She says people are always in awe when they feel the difference. “This is what I want against my body,” one retailer told her feeling the Mad Mac thong.

“I want people to experience the touch, experience the feel and experience the fit of Mad Mac Lingerie,” says Harris.

In today’s market Harris understands the importance of telling a story and creating an experience for customers to allow them to genuinely connect with her brand. Micro-brushed lace is part of the Mad Mac experience. “Once they wear it they are a customer for life,” she says.

Q&A with Fantasy Lingerie’s Leilani Whitney

Fantasy Lingerie Hanging Collection SS18 Forget me Not style SB804

Above: Forget me Not set from the Fantasy Lingerie SS18 Hanging Collection.

“Fantasy Lingerie is a brand that encourages women to embrace all sides of their personality.” – Leilani Whitney.

With the inspiring motto, “Sexy is for Every Body®” Fantasy Lingerie is at the forefront of brands creating fabulous fashion lingerie for all sizes. They are so well-loved by shoppers that they have been expanding their brand to meet customer demands. From a new swimwear line to a brand new President, Fantasy Lingerie is ready to take on the industry for 2018. As discussed in our previous article, the brand’s managing director, Leilani Whitney, has been promoted to the role of President. The Lingerie Journal was lucky enough to sit down with Leilani to discuss her position within the company and her thoughts on the ever-changing lingerie industry!

Q&A with Fantasy Lingerie’s President, Leilani Whitney

Fantasy Lingerie Names Leilani Whitney New President
For those who aren’t familiar with Fantasy Lingerie, could you give us a little insight into this exciting intimates brand?

Fantasy Lingerie is a brand that encourages women to embrace all sides of their personality. Whether it is their sensual, romantic, passionate or playful side, we have a style that encourages every woman to feel great in their own skin. We do this through innovative and fashion-forward designs in quality fabrics and trims, across a full size offering and at a mid-range price point. Fantasy Lingerie believes that “Sexy is for Every Body ®” in style, price and quality.

P.S. I Love You 2018 Sun Goddess set

Above: P.S. I Love You Sun Goddess set for 2018.

We must also congratulate you on your new role in the company! It’s very exciting news. For our readers who aren’t familiar, what does a president position entail?

The quickest description would be the one that oversees the big picture while herding cats! For a more serious answer, the President is responsible for providing leadership while helping to establish long and short-term goals and strategies while also being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business.

P.S. I Love You 2018 Swimwear Aloha Sunset Halter Contour Cup Swimsuit with Mesh Panels

Above: P.S. I Love You Aloha Sunset Halter Contour Cup Swimsuit with Mesh Panels set for 2018.

What are your goals for Fantasy Lingerie?

To continue to grow the company through innovation and inclusion. I would also like to see Fantasy become more well-known and appreciated as a brand. When I speak with customers who appreciate the great combination of quality and price-point for our lines, it makes me want more people to discover and embrace Fantasy garments! Over the past several years, a lot of our business has been in the private label sector, which we love and hope to continue growing as well.

P.S. I Love You 2018 Swimwear See you in St Bart Triangle Halter Lace Bra and Bikini Bottom

Above: P.S. I Love You See you in St Bart Triangle Halter Lace Bra and Bikini Bottom.

Fantasy Lingerie is also debuting its P.S. I Love You Swim & Resort Collection this year at the Altitudes Intimates Show. How did this line come about?

Fantasy was at the forefront of plus-size lingerie in sexy styles starting in 2012. We felt there was still an area missing in sexy swimwear for the plus-size woman and started there. We broadened the idea to do lingerie-inspired swim styles in plus and missy styles and manufactured them in sunny California. The response has been amazing!

What makes working at Fantasy Lingerie different from other brands?

From what members of our team have told me, one of the biggest differences is the feeling of inclusion. I am very interested in the ideas, feedback and experiences of everyone who works here. It has made for some lively debates and plenty of laughter. I also like to bring in outside training, lectures, publications and insights that I have learned or picked up along the way that can inspire and motivate the team. And there is always the occasional show tune if necessary.

Fantasy Lingerie Curve Collection Monique Bra and High Waisted Gartered Panty

Above: Fantasy Lingerie Curve Collection Monique Bra and High Waisted Gartered Panty.

How did you get into the world of lingerie?

I was working for the owner in another capacity when he bought the lingerie company. After some changes in personnel he asked if I would help with Fantasy Lingerie and it’s been a whirlwind ever since!

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in the lingerie world since you started 23 years ago?

I have been in the sexy industry for 23 years, the lingerie aspect of it has only been for the past 5 years. In that short time, I have seen a change in how lingerie is perceived and moved more mainstream and more competitive. The advent of social media and celebrity brands has been a game changer. I have also seen a big change in how the plus-size community has been affected. When we started the Curve line, I was told that people would ask for it, but not actually buy it. Instead of just a simple grade up in sizing, we decided to have our line designed by a plus-size designer. At that time, I coined and trademarked the phrase, “Sexy is for Every Body”, which I started to used in a variety of incarnations shortly after. Since that time, the plus-size market has exploded in all aspects of fashion including lingerie and swim, with model agencies, divisions and fashion runways including the full figured woman, which has been amazing to watch and be part of.

Fantasy Lingerie 2018

What advice would you give to a young girl just starting in the industry?

Work with the best people you can find, absorb as much information as you can, stay curious and be passionate about what you do. I think that is true in any industry.
